The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8281 on 7/2/09, as the stock market tanked on a worse then expected jobs report. The Dow Jones Futures started the morning down about 50 but then went down to around 110 after the report was released. Investors looking for more green shoots saw dying weeds. Wall Street was looking for around 330-350,000 jobs to be lost in June but got a reading of 467,000 lost. The Dow Jones and S&P 500 are now testing their respective necklines of the head and shoulders formation. Be careful out there! While the volume remains light, I consider today's volume heavy to the downside especially given that this is the last trading day before a holiday weekend. The stock market will be close on Friday. I want to wait to see how Monday-Wednesday plays out before I start to play the stock market from the short side. If the Dow closes below 8250, I will look to start buying again around 8000-8050. Baltic Dry Index Shipping Rates 7/2/09 BDI

The BDI data is critical for how the DryBulk Shipping Stocks such as DryShips Inc ( DRYS ), Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd( EXM ), Diana Shipping Inc ( DSX ), Genco Shipping & Trading Limited ( GNK ), TBS International Limited ( TBSI ), Navios Maritime ( NM ), Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. ( EGLE ), Paragon Shipping Inc. ( PRGN ), Star Bulk Carriers Corp. ( SBLK ), and OceanFreight Inc ( OCNF ) will trade during the day. As you probably know, the Dry Bulk Shipping index can tell you a lot about the state of the World Economy. When Bulk Shipping Rates are at all time highs, the World Economy is outstanding. When Bulk Shipping Rates are as low as they have been lately, it signifies that the world economy has come to a screeching halt!

At 8:30am EST today ( 7/2/09 ) we will be getting the June 2009 employment data and unemployment rate. We will also be getting last weeks initial claims data. As soon as the news hits, I will be updating this blog post with the jobs data.

It seems as though everyone is watching Libor rates these days. Today's Libor Rates for 7/2/09, are: 1 Month Libor Rate - 0.304%. & 3 Month Libor Rate - 0.578%. The overnight Libor rate is 0.268%. As you can see, Libor Rates have changed today, July 2, 2009. The Overnight Libor Rates stayed the same while the 1 & 3 month Libor Rates fell.

The Dow Jones continues to see low volume and sideways trading. The retest of 8600 which represents and right shoulder on a head and shoulders pattern failed today. I am now watching 8400 as suport and 8600 as resistance. I strongly believe that we will soon break out of this 2 months trading range one way or the other. Stocks to Watch - 7/2/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - The volumes in FAS & FAZ have really dropped over the past several trading days which tells me the FAS could be getting ready for another drop lower. Support at $9.20 on FAS continues to be solid ( each time FAS breaks below, the buyer come in ). When FAS closes below $9.20, I will most likely jump into FAZ for a swing trade. I would be a buyer of FAS in the low $8's if we ever get the opportunity again. Nothing really new with these two....just waiting for the signs of next major move either way.

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Nothing has really changed Wednesday - Citigroup stock continues to weaken as it now struggles to hold $3. Support for C is located at $2.90 and $2.85. What's even more concerning is the fact that Citi now trades below all three major moving averages and cannot even close above the 10 day moving average when tested. As soon as this trend changes, I would be a buyer of Citigroup. Until then, stay away from C stock. The 10 day moving average is currently at $3.04. Check out my Citigroup Technical Analysis. American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - AIG stock started pre market on Wednesday trading around $17.50, filled the gap up to even around $23, and then fell back under $19. Investors clearly do not like the fact that they did a reverse stock split. However, shares of AIG have been very volatile and if the stock breaks up through the High of Day tomorrow, I will be jumping in for a quick trade. Keep American International Group, Inc. on your radar!

Bank of America Corp ( BAC ) - Bank of America Corporation continues trade strongly and now BAC stock is above the 200 day moving average at $13.28. This is very bullish and if the stock can close above this level, I'd expected the June high of $13.93 to be tested.

Ford Motor Company (F) - Ford came in the better then expected auto sales on Wednesday. F stock hit $6.25 earlier in the day but then pullback near $6. I continue to watch the $6.54 resistance level. Check out my Ford Technical Analysis

Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (HEB) - HEB stock had a noticeable surge on Wednesday afternoon up to about $2.79. I would probably jump into the stock for a quick trade if it can break $3. Investors and traders continue to wait for the FDA decision on their CFS drug, Ampligen. The long delay is starting to get old! Management remains silent.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - Nothing has really changed as far as CTIC goes. When the volume comes in, CTIC stockc usually has explosive gains. Keep an eye on these three resistance levels: $1.72, $1.78 , $1.85. Now that the forced buying is out of the way from the Russell addition, a close above $1.85 will get me back into CTIC stock. Support continues to be $1.67 and $1.57.

Spectrum Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (SPPI) - SPPI stock has been surging ahead of an FDA Approval decision. Keep an eye on this stock!
