Commodities Closing Prices - 5/4/09
Gold - 900.20
Oil - 54.42
Natural Gas - 3.71
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8427 on 5/4/09, as the stock market spiked higher on better then expected Pending Homes Sales and a better then expected China manufacturing number. Financial Bull ( FAS ) broke through $9.00 and was trading at $9.40 at 3:30pm Est. The financials were very strong led by Wells Fargo ( WFC ) and Bank of America ( BAC ).
The Dow Jones is testing 8500 which will be a key resistance level to watch going forward. The S&p 500 broke 900 and could be setting up to test the 940 level sometime in May. I do believe the S&P will trend around 900 both up and down in the next few weeks. There were a lot of bulls calling for 900 and will be starting to sell into their targets.

FAS stock has been trading sideways since quadrupling in one month. The volume has really died down as we await the stress test results due out May 7th. I like pullbacks to the 50 day moving average for a trade. FAS has solid support at $7.00 and if $7.00 is broken, I look for the 50 day moving average to be tested. As I have been saying for the past month, in order to trade FAZ stock you have to watch FAS. FAS is the stock in the uptrend and rules right now.
On the upside, FAS has major resistance at $9.50-$10.05....a close above this area would most likely take FAS up to test the next resistance level of $12.53. For FAZ, you might get a nice trading opportunity on a close over $9.12 as FAS goes back to retest the 50 day moving average. You have to use very tight stops due to the volatility!! Citigroup stock continues to trade below the 10 day moving average as we await the stress test results on May 7, 2009. It has been rumored that Citi will need to raise 10 billion in captial - CNBC Reports. Citigroup has support between $2.57 & $2.61....a close below these two levels would be bearish. On the upside, a close back over the 10 day moving average would be the first sign of a trend change, I am watching for a close over $3.35 with a volume spike to get back into this stock. The Dow Jones tested the downtrend line today which is now a nice area of support. There is resistance around 8300 as well as major resistance at 8500. Stocks to Watch - 5/4/09 - Stock Market Ideas
Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - CTIC stock broke through $0.45 resistance in pre market trading Friday, hit $0.58, and then tested $0.45 again around 11am. At 2pm, CTIC was testing the $0.49 resistance level. I am watching for a close over $0.49 to take a bigger position. A will sell on a close below $0.45....which is my stop order. CTIC Message Thread
Cott Corp. (COT) - Beverage stock COT broke to a new 52 week high on Friday which was $3.68. This stock will be on my radar for a potential trade on Monday. COT Message Thread
Triad Guaranty Inc. (TGIC), BankUnited Financial Corporation (BKUNA): TGIC and BKUNA were two of the hottest penny stocks on Friday. These two will be on my watch list for Monday.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - CTIC stock broke through $0.45 resistance in pre market trading Friday, hit $0.58, and then tested $0.45 again around 11am. At 2pm, CTIC was testing the $0.49 resistance level. I am watching for a close over $0.49 to take a bigger position. A will sell on a close below $0.45....which is my stop order. CTIC Message Thread
Cott Corp. (COT) - Beverage stock COT broke to a new 52 week high on Friday which was $3.68. This stock will be on my radar for a potential trade on Monday. COT Message Thread
Triad Guaranty Inc. (TGIC), BankUnited Financial Corporation (BKUNA): TGIC and BKUNA were two of the hottest penny stocks on Friday. These two will be on my watch list for Monday.
