The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9539 on 8/25/09, as the stock market went higher after Ben Bernanke was appointed to a new 4 yr term. Wall Street seemed to like this news! The Dow Jones Futures were down 30 overnight but turned around on the Ben Bernanke news. Several sell off attempts throughout the day failed and the stock market closed very solid.

The 9600 level still continues to be stubborn but I feel with a solid new home sales figure tomorrow, we could punch through and stay above that level easily! Check out some of the events I will be watching for Wednesday. If you are trading, take a look at my Stocks to Watch Report for tomorrow.

Fannie Mae (FNM) Support & Resistance Levels - 8/25/09

Resistance Levels: $1.84, $2, $2.60, $2.76

Support Levels: $1.43, $1.36, $1.20

Fannie Mae Inc ( FNM ) continues to surge on heavy volume as shorts cover their positions. FNM has done everything technicians look for, break out, retest the 10 day moving average, and then break out again. While this is a daytrading stock and is probably a zombie company, I continue to like pullbacks to the 10 day moving average for a trade. The next time FNM stock pulls back to 10 day moving average, I will jump back in. On the upside, there is resistance at Monday's high of $1.84 as well as $2. A close above $2 would be huge and there isn't any major resistance until $2.50-$2.60. It is important to note that this is a trading stock only....I wouldn't be chasing it...use tight stops. Swine Flu Stocks - H1N1 Stock List

August 25, 2009 - Most of the Swine Flu stocks are set to open higher one day after a study was released stating that 30-50% of American's could get the swine flu this winter. If true, this would be astonishing and could hurt the economic recovery!

The first vaccines will be going to people in Australia. CSL Limited (ASX:CSL) will be providing the vaccine and is expected to have vaccine sales of over $250 million in 2010. The US Government alone has ordered 180 million worth of this vaccine. Link

GenVec Inc. (GNVC) Receives Grant

August 25, 2009 - Shares of GenVec Inc. (GNVC) are set to open 10% higher in pre market as the company will be receiving a 2.5 million grant.

GenVec, Inc. (Nasdaq: GNVC) announced today that it has received a Phase 2 Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to support the development of GenVec’s vector production technology.

Funds from this grant, valued at approximately $2.5 million over three years, will be used to support the development of novel cell lines capable of producing vaccine vectors based on different human serotype groups and encoding inhibitory antigens.

“This important grant will support work to advance our cell line technology and enhance GenVec’s ability to discover and develop new adenovector-based vaccines and therapeutics,” said Dr. Doug Brough, GenVec’s Executive Director of Vector Sciences. Press Release

Price Target - $80

Jefferies views Visa as the best positioned company in the payments industry and a core holding.

The Dow Jones continues to rip higher after closing over 9438 last week. The next major resistance level I am watching is 9600 followed by 9654 which was the Election high. Stocks to Watch - 8/25/09 - Stock Market Ideas

Fannie Mae (FNM) - Continues the technical breakout but is coming up on $2 resistance. I like pullbacks to the 10 day moving average ( which is $1.11 but rising rapidly )

Freddie Mac (FRE) - Huge run, needs to close over $1.89. Watching $2.35 resistance from Monday. I like pullbacks to the 10 day moving average ( $1.53 and rising )

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup hit $5 resistance and is now seeing a pullback into the $4.80's. Support is located at $4.68 as well as $4.48. A close above $5 would be huge and you would see additional buyers who cannot own stocks below $5 start jump in. Check out my Citigroup Technical Analysis

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - Resistance - $35.45 & $38.40. I will be a buyer of pullbacks below $31 with a stop at $29.99.

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI) - SIRI is having major problems remaining over $0.75 but continues to grind higher. I would be a buyer of pullbacks to the 10 day moving average ( currently at $0.59 but rising rapidly).

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - The FDA is set to rule on Fast Track status for Pixantrone on 9/4/09. This could provide another lift going into this date. Resistance - $1.80 - $1.85.

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS hit a high of $81.50 on Monday and then pulled back below $77. Still waiting for FAS to close over $79.36 to confirm a new breakout. I will be buying FAZ for a quick trade when FAS break down below $74.29.

Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (HEB) - HEB broke above $1.96 & $2. Resistance is currently located at $2.17 & $2.35

Bank of America Corp ( BAC ) - Bank of America Corporation actually traded above $17.93 early Monday but could not hold this level. I am waiting for a close over $17.93 to start a long position with a tight stop. I will also buy pullbacks to the 10 day moving average ( $16.87 )

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) - LVS stock continues it's journey toward the November 2008 high of $16.81. All pullbacks to the 10 day moving average have been bought heavily and offer a nice support level.

CPSL China Precision Steel Stock Breaking Out 8/25/08

This morning, China Precision Steel ( CPSL ) is breaking out to the upside. CPSL stock is now up over 10% to $5.45.

The move started last week when this article was published.

CPSL Technical Analysis:

Back in May, CPSL went from $4 to $8.50 in a week......so we know this stock can break out quickly!! I would keep an eye on the $5.52 level. If CPSL could close above this level you could see additional upside. Keep tight stops at $5.50 however!
