The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 7837 on 4/8/09, as the stock market was up today after the 2pm Fed minutes were released and the fact that the financials were weak once again. The day started with home builder Pulte Homes ( PHM ) purchasing Centex ( CTX ) for 1.3 billion. The Dow Jones Futures were down as much as 100 but when the above news was announced, went back to near positive territory. The Dow Jones was up as much as 70 points but then lost ground as Citigroup ( C ) and Bank of America ( BAC ) became weak. There was a rumor out that B of A CEO Ken Lewis will be replaced. Ken Lewis was just on CNBC telling us how everything was so great and now I'm wondering if he was just trying to save his job. If everything was getting better his job wouldn't be in jeopardy. Time will tell!
Tomorrow will be the last trading day of the week as the markets will be closed on Friday. Look for very low stock market volume tomorrow. Check out my stocks to watch report for Thursday. I will have full technical analysis of the stock market tonight - Right Here

The following is a little Citigroup ( C ) stock technical analysis for April 8, 2009Citigroup Support & Resistance Levels - 4/8/09
Resistance Levels: $2.89, $3.00, $3.35, $3.89
Support Levels: $2.65, $2.40, $2.20
Citigroup continues to bounce off and close above both 10 and 50 day moving averages. This is a very bullish sign for the future. Citi had a big run and now is trending sideways instead of giving back the gains. As a trader, I am waiting for a break back above $3.00 to get long Citigroup again. I am also watching for several closes below $2.60 for a sign of more weakness to come.

The following is Technical Analysis for the Dow Jones ( DJIA ) for 4/8/09Dow Jones Support & Resistance Levels - April 8, 2009
Resistance Levels: 8000, 8075, 8300, 8500
Support Levels: 7550, 7450

The Dow Jones Closed below the 10 day moving average Tuesday as the 8000 level continues to be a major resistance level. The Dow now has three straight sessions with lower lows. Tomorrow will be a very critical day the Dow will attempt to get back above the 10 day moving average and regain momentum. The next solid support level is 240 points lower at 7550 which is the 50 day moving average. I am looking to buy if we get back there. However, I will use a stop at 7450. Adeona Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ( AEN ) - AEN exploded higher Tuesday, I will be watching to see if this stock can trade back above $1.00 tomorrow. See my AEN Article.
Biopure Corporation ( BPUR ) - Biopure received a Nasdaq listing notice so Tuesday's rise could be an attempt to get BPUR stock back above $1.00 for ten straight days. Worth Watching.
Pier 1 Imports ( PIR ) - Pier 1 Imports, Inc. reported earnings Tuesday. This is probably the stock I am paying the most attention to because if PIR breaks through $0.80 today or tomorrow, we could be looking at a retest of $1.00 resistance from the last run up several weeks ago. If PIR closes over $1.00, it could be headed back to the $1.50-$1.75 level. This was a $5 stock back in September 2008.
