The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9488 on 10/2/09, as the stock market rallied off the morning lows after a disappointing jobs report. The Dow Jones Futures were down around 30 points in pre market just before for the jobs data was released. The United States lost 263,000 jobs during the month of September while the unemployment rate rose to 9.8%. Right after the report, the Dow Jones dropped 120 points but then rallied off the lows to positive right after the open.

Next weeks trading should set the tone as we head into 3rd quarter earnings reports. Check out some of the events I will be watching for Monday.

Baltic Dry Index Shipping Rates 10/2/09 BDI

The BDI data is critical for how the DryBulk Shipping Stocks such as DryShips Inc ( DRYS ), Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd( EXM ), Diana Shipping Inc ( DSX ), Genco Shipping & Trading Limited ( GNK ), TBS International Limited ( TBSI ), Navios Maritime ( NM ), Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. ( EGLE ), Paragon Shipping Inc. ( PRGN ), Star Bulk Carriers Corp. ( SBLK ), and OceanFreight Inc ( OCNF ) will trade during the day. As you probably know, the Dry Bulk Shipping index can tell you a lot about the state of the World Economy. When Bulk Shipping Rates are at all time highs, the World Economy is outstanding. When Bulk Shipping Rates are as low as they have been lately, it signifies that the world trade has come to a screeching halt

It seems as though everyone is watching Libor rates these days. Today's Libor Rates for 10/2/09 are: 1 Month Libor Rate - 0.244% & 3 Month Libor Rate - 0.284%. The overnight Libor rate is 0.200%. As you can see, Libor Rates have changed today, October 2, 2009. While the 3 month libor stayed the same, both the overnight and 1 month libor rates dropped.

Citigroup closed right at the 10 day moving average on Thursday ahead of the key jobs report tomorrow. The 10 day has been a strong support level recently and each pullback has been bought heavily. If this level does not hold, look for the 50 day moving average to hold. With the 50 day being right at previous support ( $4.15-$4.20 ), I will be a buyer if Citigroup pulls back to this area. Stock Market Futures

The Dow Jones is pulling back after some worse then expected economic data. I am watching the 50 day moving average located at 9449 but is rising rapidly. The Dow must hold this key support level on a closing basis or the risks to more downside activity are high. The next two levels to watch would be the Sept low of 9253 and the August low of 9116. These must hold as well or 9000 will be tested. I will become bullish again when the Dow can close back over 9730. For More Technical Analysis - Go Here

Stocks to Watch - 10/02/09 - Stock Market Ideas

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - AIG stock broke last weeks low of $42.91 and is now in a downtrend. The next major support levels to watch are $41.26 & $39.00. I would be a buyer of AIG if the stock fell below $38. On the upside, when AIG closes back over the 10 day moving average ( currently $44.79 ) I would be a buyer as well.

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - I continue to like pullbacks to the 10 day moving average ( currently $4.54 ). Every time Citi has pulled back to this support level, the stock has bounced. Until this trend changes, It is a strong buy. Resistance levels: $4.84, $4.99

Bank of America Corp (BAC) - Bank of America Corporation dropped Thursday after it was up in early trading on the Ken Lewis news. BAC continues to trade between both the 10 and 50 day moving averages. I will be trading BAC again when it closes back above the 10 day moving average ( currently $17.16 ).

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS continues the recent downtrend with the 50 day moving average located at $72.95. If this level doesn't hold, it could get very ugly and more volatile. $73 would be a good area to take a shot at FAS if you are thinking about getting long. As for FAZ, I think the easy money has been made over the past two weeks....if FAS would rally back to $85, I will be buying FAZ with a high stop.

YRC Worldwide Inc. (YRCW) - YRC Logistics Awarded Toromocho Copper Mine Project - This news came out around 1:30pm EST on Thursday. I am watching two key resistance levels. I will be adding YRCW stock to my portfolio when the stock breaks each of the following prices. $4.84, $4.96, $5.00.

Discovery Laboratories Inc. (DSCO) - DSCO is trading back into the support zone of $1.15-$1.20. As soon as the stock breaks up through the high of the day again, I will buy for a trade.

CEL-SCI Corp. (CVM) - CVM appears to be holding up very well during this sell off. A press release issued at any time could really move the stock. I plan to buy the stock for a trade when CVM breaks up through: $1.72, $1.77, and $1.83. Support continues to be located at $1.60.

Talecris Biotherapeutics Holdings Corp (TLCR) - TLCR was a hot IPO today - keep an eye on this stock over the next week!

DryShips, Inc. (DRYS) - Will buy when DRYS closes above $7

Novavax, Inc. (NVAX) - I will buy on a break above $5

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI) - Will buy on a break above $0.64

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - Would buy on a break above $1.31
