The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9071 on 7/29/09, as the stock market fell today on a worse then expected durable goods number, a plunge in oil prices, and a worse then expected 5 year treasury auction. The Dow Jones Futures started the day lower but weakened throughout the trading day. Oil prices had their worst day in three months as inventories spiked higher then expected. This sent most of the energy sector significantly lower. As usual though, the stock market was subject to a late day bounce which has been the trading pattern for the past 2 months or so. This late day buying is very common in a bull market. As long as the Dow Jones can stay above 9000, I continue to be bullish and trade actively. Keep an eye on the hottest stock today which is INO, a swine flu stock. This company released positive vaccine data today and the stock jumped over 300%. Check out some of the events I will be watching for Thursday.

Inovio Consensus DNA Vaccine Approach Demonstrates 100% Protection Against Unmatched Flu Virus Strains Currently in Circulation

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 29, 2009-- Inovio Biomedical Corporation (NYSE Amex: INO), a leader in DNA vaccine design, development and delivery, announced today that the company's SynCon™ H1N1 influenza DNA vaccines achieved protection against current circulating swine origin influenza A/H1N1 viruses in animal studies.

The company had previously reported interim data from an ongoing study in a pig model in which the SynCon™ based H1N1 vaccines achieved hemagglutination inhibition (HI) titers above the protection threshold in 100% of the vaccinated animals against the swine influenza virus (A/Iowa/35233/1999). In a continuation of this study, Inovio investigators tested the immune sera for responses against a virus isolated from the current circulating strain of swine origin influenza A/H1N1 (Swine A/Mexico/InDRE4487/2009). All the animals immunized with the SynCon™ H1N1 vaccine developed HI titers exceeding the 1:40 level commonly associated with protective immunity.

In a second study, the investigators immunized mice with the NP and m2E components of the vaccine and challenged these animals with a second related strain also isolated from the current circulating influenza A/H1N1 (A/Canada/AB/RV1532/2009). While all mice showed effects of virus challenge as judged by significant weight loss, the vaccinated mice recovered from virus infection-induced morbidity significantly faster compared to the non-immunized control animals.
In a previous study, the Inovio team demonstrated that mice immunized with Inovio’s SynCon™ H1N1 DNA vaccine provided 100% protection in a lethal challenge study against an unmatched H1N1 virus that caused the 1918 Spanish flu, which killed over 40 million people worldwide. Full Article

The Dow Jones had a big test at 9000 this morning which passed. 9000 continues to be a solid support level and I am bullish as long as we stay over it. I am also watching the 10 day moving average for signs of a potential correction. Located at 8908, the 10 day is really catching up to this latest move higher. deCODE genetics Inc. (DCGN) - DCGN was one of the hottest stocks on Tuesday as shares soared 37%. The stock has been in an uptrend since April and could be headed back to the next major resistance level which is $0.93 followed by $1. Today's move is on no news so you have to be cautious.

Ariad Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ARIA) - I continue to keep ARIA on my radar as the news has been big over the past few days. Ariad Pharma says breast cancer drug shows promise. Watch for a close over $2.95 which be bullish going forward.

AVI Biopharma, Inc. (AVII) - AVII has been on fire lately with the swine flu stocks. Positive news out today helped send shares significantly higher. AVII has support at $2.20 and resistance at $2.68

Antigenics Inc. (AGEN) - Shares of AGEN were up big Tuesday, two days before earnings are set to be released. I am watching $3 resistance as well as $3.34 resistance and if AGEN can break these after earnings are released, we could be setting up for a run toward the $4-$5 range.

Sequenom Inc. (SQNM) - SQNM stock took a breather Tuesday. A break below $5.70 and I'd be looking to buy around $5.35. SQNM will have solid support ar $5 if $5.34 doesn't hold. I really only like to buy SQNM when it goes a week without breaking through previous days high and buying the stock as soon as this changes.

ACADIA Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (ACAD) - Don't forget about ACAD! Trial data is due out any day now.

Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (HEB) - Speaking of HEB, investors and traders are waiting for an FDA decision on Ampligen. I believe we are going into week 8 of the delay.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - Waiting for CTIC to break up through $1.50, then I will be buying

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - Nothing has changed today - I continue to watch for trading opportunities in FAS and FAZ. I would be buying FAZ if FAS trades up around $55 for a quick trade. I am not willing to chase FAS up this high until we see a big pullback. When FAS closes back under $50, FAZ will attract a lot of technical buyers.

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup stock ripped higher on Tuesday after a positive Barron's article. As soon as Citigroup can break above $3 and hold it, I see another 10-15% rise that would follow. If you are trading C stock, be careful under $2.85. Check out my Citigroup Technical Analysis

Bank of America Corp ( BAC ) - Bank of America Corporation continues to show strength after breaking up through $12.40 and $12.48 last week. Keep an eye on resistance at $14. A break up through $14 would be bullish after a long sideways trading range.

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - AIG stock broke $13 this morning and ran to my target zone of $13.65-$14. $13 is now support and $13.80-$14 resistance.
