The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10259 on 5/27/10, as the stock market soared on news that China still likes the Euro Dollar. The Dow Jones Futures were up 160 points on this news and things improved throughout the trading day and held into the close. The S&P 500 has resistance located at 1110 as well as 1120.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10044 on 5/25/10, as the stock market opened very weak but rallied throughout the trading day. The Dow Jones dropped over 250 points at the open but rallied almost all the way back at the close. I expect the volatility to continue for the rest of the week as Wall Street accesses the European crisis.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10067 on 5/24/10, as the stock market gave back the gains which were made in the final half hour on Friday. The Dow Jones Futures were down over 100 in pre market but quickly snapped back at the open today. In late trading, the stock market gave back all of these gains and was basically trading flat if you compare it to pre market. We are also trading flat compared if you take out the spike that happened at the close on Friday.

Financials were the weakest link today with a stock like Bank of America down near 3%. Oil rebounded slightly to close back above $70 per barrel. The S&P 500 has support at 1045 which was the low in February. If we see a close below 1045, I expect the volatility to pick up 1000 to eventually be tested.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10193 on 5/21/10, as the stock market reversed off the morning lows and rallied into positive territory. The volatility continues in this stock market as Wall Street remains in derisking mode. The Dow Jones opened up the trading day below 10,000 but went above 10,100 by afternoon.

Next week should be interesting as US markets will close the trading week going into a 3 day holiday. I could see us selling off Thursday and Friday followed by a nice pop when market reopen on Tuesday.

Key levels to watch on the S&P 500 are 1060 as well as 1050. If we break below those two support levels next week, things could get very ugly. I continue to trade around my long positions as well as trade ticker symbol: FAS.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10068 on 5/20/10, as the stock market tanked again. The Dow Jones Futures were down around 60 in pre market but then quickly fell to down 160 on continued weakness in the Euro. We saw all of the commodities such as oil, platinum, copper, and even gold lower today.

The S&P 500 violated the 200 day moving average located at 1102.55 today. Support on the downside after 1080 is currently 1040-1045. I expect the stock market to bounce out of oversold conditions if that area is tested.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10444 on 5/19/10, as the stock market continues to be very volatile. The Dow Jones Futures were down over 100 around 6:30am but came all the way back at the open. The stock market actually went positive before plunging around noon. General Electric (GE) management came out with bullish comments around 1:30pm which caused stocks to bounce going into the close. The company says " Things are getting better."

With options expiration set for Friday, expect the volatility to remain high into the end of the week.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10511 on 5/18/10, as the stock market gave back yesterday's late reversal to close deep in the red. The Euro continues to weaken which is making global stock markets very nervous. The strong US Dollar is causing oil prices to plummet which is helping energy related stocks to nose dive. I expect this type of volatility to continue for the rest of the week due to options expiration. Buy the dips, sell the rips.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10626 on 5/17/10, as the stock market traded flat on more Euro dollar volatility. The Dow Jones Futures were higher in pre market but then we saw a collapse after the open. The S&P 500 bounced off 1120 and came back to flat around 3:30pm EST. Tuesday's are usually good days and given the steep drop we've seen lately, I bet we have a decent day tomorrow. I did a little bit of trading today and added a long position on Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (GMCR) at $69.25. I will add more if it falls below $65 anytime soon.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10620 on 5/14/10, as the stock market dropped on further profit taking after a huge move higher this week from last week's lows. The S&P 500 dropped below 1150 which now becomes resistance. We would be in some some real trouble if the S&P 500 dropped and stayed below 1120. I would then look to buy stocks around 1090-1095. What stocks would I buy? I would most likely add to my Apple position and then take a look at the big banks such as BAC or C.

Disney (DIS) beat Wall Street estimates last night which was very positive. Tonight, we will get a look into tech titan Cisco Systems (CSCO).

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10748 on 5/11/10, as the stock market began the day weaker, got really strong, and then fell in the afternoon. The Dow Jones held almost all of the gains from Monday which is very bullish going forward. Tomorrow, we will get a huge earnings report from Cisco Systems (CSCO). Keep an eye on that report and how the stock market trades off of the report.


The S&P 500 continues to bounce off 1150 and this is a level I want to be watching most on a closing basis. A close below 1150 would do some technical damage to the stock market.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10785 on 5/10/10, as the stock market skyrocketed on a " shock and awe " European rescue plan. The Dow Jones Futures began the day up around 370 points in pre market but surged to up 440 at one point after the open. After lunch, we saw a 100 point correction which followed more buying into the close. Key levels to watch on the S&P 500 are 1150 as support and 1180 for resistance. The S&P 500 bounced off 1150 multiple times on Monday and looks to be a solid support level going forward. I will get cautious on a close below this level.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10380 on 5/7/10, as the stock market dropped again today. The day began with a better then expected jobs report which showed that the US gained 290,000 jobs in the month of April. The Dow Jones Futures were up 50 points in pre market but when stocks opened at 9:30am EST, it got ugly. The Dow fell about 180 points by mid morning and then rallied all the way back when President Obama spoke around 11:30am EST. By 2pm EST, the stock market went back down retesting the lows by 3:15pm EST. In the final 5 minutes, the market came back slightly.

Wall Street is anticipating some sort of aid package for Greece over the weekend. If we do not get this aid package, look for more losses on Monday. This market is excellent for trading, the wild swing bring great opportunity. Wait until you see 50-100 point declines per 15-20 seconds and then jump in. This would have worked well during the last two days. I would target a great company such as Apple (AAPL).

On a technical note, the S&P 500 must hold 1090 on the downside or we could see a fast plunge down to 1060-1070. Below that, 1040 is solid! Don't think we will get there though! This stock market is starting to offer some really nice value in the technology & energy sectors.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10520 on 5/6/10, as the stock market tanked on more fears out of Greece. The day started with the Dow Jones Futures higher by 40 points but then turned lower by 100 points at the open. Toward lunch time, the Dow Jones start a steady decline and then the riots started up in Greece. The Dow then fell from down 200 to down 300 and quickly accelerated to the downside. At around 2:30pm EST, all hell broke lose with an apparent glitch on computer trade gone bad. The Dow Jones was down over 900 points with companies such as Apple down over 20% to 200. Within 5 minutes, the Dow Jones went from down 900 back to only down 400. CNBC has been reporting that this was a human error at a major Wall Street firm. With this error, the Nasdaq then broke down and started glitching. The New York Stock Exchange has reported no glitches at all.

As for the jobs report tomorrow, I don't think anyone really cares at this point. A huge buying opportunity was created today and we will have to see whether more such opportunities present themselves over the next few days.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10867 on 5/5/10, as the stock market dropped again on fears that the Greece debt crisis could spread. The Dow Jones Futures were down about 30 points in points in pre market but was down around 100 right after the open. We then saw some buying come into the stock market as the major averages went near the flat line by lunch time. The selling then came back into the market and we hit fresh lows in the afternoon. The fear is alive and well. Oil is down 8% in the last few days alone! Keep an eye on 1150 on the S&P 500. This level must hold on a closing basis or we could go down to 1100-1120. The best thing to do is to wait until the S&P 500 closes above 1180 and then buy.

These volatile markets offer many great trading opportunities. I usually look for a down day followed by a horrible open the next day. I usually have a list of stocks I want to buy and if they hit my price points, I will pull the trigger. If we get a nice bounce like we did this morning, I will then sell into the rally.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10927 on 5/4/10, as the stock market did the opposite of the previous day which has been the trend lately. The Dow Jones Futures were down 40 points in pre market but the sellers showed up in droves at the open. By lunch time, the Dow Jones was down 250 points. I don't believe this is due to the Greece crisis but possibly the fear of the Greece crisis spreading into Spain and Germany. If the we go by the current trend, we will be up triple digits tomorrow. Another down day would cause concern in the short term but I do believe we will be near 11,700-12,000 by the end of 2010. I have been using this sell off to add to get back into GMCR as well as add to my position in BEXP.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 11152 on 5/3/10, as the stock market rallied on Greece finally getting an aid package. The Dow Jones Futures began the trading day higher by 30 points but the stock market got stronger throughout the trading day. The gulf oil spill briefly added to gains in the oil market but the commodity closed flat on the day. The next major stock market mover will be on Friday when we get the jobs report. Economists are expecting the US to gain over 300,000 jobs from April.
