Brigham Exploration Co. (BEXP) - Brigham Exploration Co. is my top oil stock pick for 2010. I own it and have owned it for some time now. I have been accumulating below $15 and selling those shares between $17-$19 while keeping my core long term position.

Brigham Exploration has been making huge strides in the Bakken Shale Oil Field located in North Dakota. Recently, the company announced that they hit a 5,000+ BOEPD well. The company is expected to blow away estimates for the next several quarters which could take it back to a new 52 week high soon. Since July 4, 2010, BEXP stock is up over $2.50.

Samson Oil & Gas Limited (SSN) - I have liked Samson Oil & Gas over the past three months and have been all over this stock since $0.35. Now that the stock is trading at $1.20, I obviously like it less. However, if SSN falls back below $0.80, I'd be a buyer. SSN has some nice assets in the Niobrara Shale as well as the Bakken Shale.

EOG Resources, Inc. (EOG) - EOG Resources, Inc. is a much large company but is very active in the emerging Eagle Ford Shale play. I love EOG Resources below $100 per share for the long term.

Apache Corp. (APA) - Apache Corp. is a leader in the Eagle Ford Shale as well as several other shale plays in the USA and Canada. Apache recently bought some great assets from BP in North Texas and British Columbia. Apache is an excellent stock for the long term if you believe in Oil as an investment.
