Hot Stock Gainers July 27, 2009 - Afternoon Update

Today, July 27, 2009, there are many hot stock gainers showing strength in the stock market. Below is a list of the top stock gainers going into the second half of trading today with volume. Afternoon Stock Gainers - 7/27/09

ACADIA Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (ACAD) - The biggest gainer today is ACAD, shares are higher ahead of a key drug trial which could be coming out any day now. I will not get involved until the data is released because it is risky but if you are trading the stock, watch $5 resistance. If the trial results come out better then expected, the next resistance is located all the way up at $8.50.

Ariad Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ARIA) - ARIA is popping on the following news - Ariad Pharma says cancer drug shows promise. This is a stock that could be very active all week because earnings will also be released on Thursday. Resistance is located at $2.70 & $2.95 but then its off to the races.

Cerus Corporation (CERS) - CERS has been up ever since the Medarex, Inc. (MEDX) buyout. Investors seem to be betting that there could be shoppers looking at Cerus.

Novavax, Inc. (NVAX) - Europe is fast tracking swine flu vaccines. NVAX has a vaccine trial that uses insect cells which could offer a faster solution then chicken egg cells. NVAX is breaking out of a huge trading ranged between $2.25 - $3.50. Keep an eye on $4.38, if NVAX closes above $4.38, you could be looking at $5-$7 in the next few months.

Sequenom Inc. (SQNM) - SQNM stock has also been breaking for the past few days after the $5.34 resistance level was closed over last week. SQNM could be headed back to retest the 200 day moving average in the next several months.

China Precision Steel, Inc. (CPSL) - The China stock markets have been hot recently. Keep an eye on $3.50, a close over this level would be huge!

BioCryst Pharmaceuticals Inc. (BCRX) - Another swine flu stock riping higher today

Capstone Turbine Corp. (CPST) - Capstone Turbine Adds Distributor for Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri. CPST has resistance at $1.34 & $1.67.

Geron Corporation (GERN) - GERN just broke above $8.50 today - resistance is located at $10
