Stimulus Plan Update 2/10/09 February 10, 2009

The Stimulus package appears to be days away from passing as the new bank rescue plan was announced today, February 10, 2009. Support for the 2009 Stimulus Package is now 51%.

Yesterday, the Stimulus Package passed a key procedural vote but lawmakers are still trying to tweak the plan as it gets ready for a Senate passage today and a Presidential Signature later this week. The Vote was 61 to 36 which will pass this bill by 1 vote. Republicans stepped up to the plate this time and helped out in a big way.

The three Republicans, Susan Collins and Olympia J. Snowe of Maine and Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, linked up with 56 Democrats and two independents to get this bill passed. As of now, the Stimulus Package stands at $838 Billion Dollars

If this Stimulus package goes through, a new home buyer could get a $15,000 credit but the new package could hurt programs like no child left behind. There are also tax incentives for new car buyers.

Oil is ripping higher because of the potential outcome of the stimulus bill. Oil prices were trading at $41.66 this morning but on Monday these prices will jump even higher as the April contract starts to trade.

Americans for Prosperity - No Stimulus Petition - February 10, 2009

Americans for Prosperity has started a Petition on their website over the weekend for Americans who oppose the stimulus.

We still have two chances to win in the House or Senate!
The Senate mustered 61 votes to squeak through the Collins/Nelson amendment, better known as the “compromise” stimulus plan.
If you listen to the mainstream media, this means the fight is over, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and President Obama win, and it’s time to move on. Not so fast!
The bill will go to a conference committee to work out differences between the House and Senate versions. The conference committee will be a brand-new feeding frenzy of wasteful pork projects, Americans for Prosperity said on their website Tuesday.
