The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8515.55 on 12/26/08, as the stock market traded on very light volume today. This is likely to be the pattern until the start of 2009. Oil was the only thing exciting today. Oil hit a new low but then bounced off those lows to close up for the day. All of Wednesdays losses have been recouped.

Dow Jones Futures 12/26/08 - Stock Market

The Dow Jones and Stock Market Futures are mixed this morning, 12/26/08, one day after Christmas. The big story this week was the rapid fall in oil prices. Oil is getting a rebound today to around $36 after free falling Wednesday afternoon after the stock market closed at 1pm. The Stock Market operates on a regular schedule today and will close at 4pm.

The Dow Jones closed below key support level of 8500 today for the first time in over two weeks....this is something worth watching. The volume has been very light but it is still a bearish signal. The next support level is 8300 and 8500 now becomes resistance. I am now being cautious until we close back over 8500.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 8419 on 12/23/08, as the stock market was weak for the second day during this holiday shortened week. The Dow Jones was up as much as 60 points in early traded but when afternoon hit, the Dow Jones dipped below 8500 for the second straight day. As expected, the volume has been VERY light and a small bit of selling can really hit the market hard. Tomorrow that Stock Market is open a full day and I expect there to be even lighter volume then today. I will have full technical analysis of the market Right Here

Epix Pharmaceuticals EPIX - This was the ultimate break out stock yesterday on FDA approval news in the last hour of trading. EPIX is trading at $1.54 in pre market, up 28%.

Via Pharmaceuticals VIAP - This company just came out with news regarding a pact with Roche. VIAP is trading at $.35 with light volume, up 159%

Nortel Networks NT - NT is trading at $.30 up 20%.

Dryships DRYS - Drys is weak this morning, can't find any news but is trading at $9.22 down 7.3%
